At the 2000 Sydney Games, Eric Moussambani, an athlete from Equatorial Guinea, set a swimming record for his country. The interesting part was that it was the worst time ever recorded in the history of the Olympic Games. In fact, it took him more than twice as long as his fastest competitors to complete the 100 meter freestyle! To many people, it was easy to see that Eric should have quit long before he ever made it to the Olympics based on this drastic comparison. It was obvious that he had no chance of winning a medal. Yet, here was an athlete, who wanted to change his life for the better and wanted to represent his country in one of the biggest events in the world.
When he arrived in Sydney, no one knew his name, but he was in the same Athlete Village as the biggest and best athletes in the world. He was eating, sleeping, and exercising with the best. He knew he probably wouldn’t win, but he also knew he was worthy of the same experience as the rest of the world. He knew that this experience would only make him better, and if he could learn anything from the best, he wanted to be there!
The quickest way to succeed is by learning from people who have had success. This is why many athletes hire coaches who have a record of teaching other successful athletes. The cost, the distance, the time, none of it matters as long as it will help them achieve their goal of being successful.
Many times we avoid success because we are worried about losing, or risking embarrassment. In August, there is an opportunity for all Consultants - regardless of their rank, earnings, or time in the company - to attend our 2018 annual convention, ASPIRE. This is important for the same reasons it was important for Eric the Eel to attend the Olympics. This event is more than just listening to great topics on how to find success. This event is more than being the first in the company to have access to the 2018 fall collection. This event is more than celebrating the success of Consultants who have built a strong business. This event is an opportunity for all Consultants to come together, learn from each other, catch the vision of Paparazzi, and build a team that is strong enough and brave enough to achieve every dream they have.
Consultants who join Paparazzi may not reach a top rank or see their name in lights, but they will experience a level of success that is just as important and impressive in its own right. This achievement will not happen because of one event or one party; it will be realized by combining training, experience and an unwavering determination to be the best. It will require sacrifice, hard work, and a genuine belief that you belong. And there is no doubt that you belong with Paparazzi.
We’ll see you in Las Vegas!
