Paparazzi – and each Consultant’s individual business – was built on three pillars of success: Accessorize. Invite. Become. As you have parties and share the jewelry (ACCESSORIZE), you will inevitably have the opportunity to INVITE people to shop, host, or join your team. This will allow you to BECOME a Sponsor, a fashion Consultant, and a leader. Excluding any one of these from our business will limit our potential and will result in lost momentum. It’s also critical to remember that these pillars do not represent a lineal progression. Once you become a Sponsor, that doesn’t mean that you stop throwing parties or inviting people to experience what Paparazzi offers. A truly successful Consultant incorporates each one of these pillars into their daily business practices. A farm is a perfect example of how applying basic principles on a consistent basis can generate some amazing results. In the spring, a new crop is planted. Throughout the growing season, the crop is cared for by water, fertilizer, and daily attention. At the end of the growing season, it is time to harvest. The harvest allows you to sell the fruits of your labor and then reinvest for the next season’s crop. These same concepts apply whether you’re working in a small backyard garden or managing endless acres of land.
Consider this: If a farmer gets tired of planting new seeds and only wants to water their plants and harvest, it won’t work. If all the farmer does is plant new seeds, but never waters, there will be no harvest. And if the farmer only shows up to harvest, without preparing for a new crop in the spring, their business will be incredibly short-lived.
Your Paparazzi business is just like a farm! Without parties, you will not have a team or Hostesses to tend to or a profit to benefit from. Without caring for your current team, you will not have a team to enjoy. And, if you only sit back and revel in your team’s efforts, your success as a leader will quickly fade. Continued success requires continued effort in each pillar of Paparazzi.

If there’s one thing that feeds a Paparazzi shopping frenzy, it’s the underlying battle among your customers to bring home that one accessory that nobody else will have. There’s no denying that adding that elusive can’t-find-it-anywhere-else piece of jewelry to a collection is a thrill! You can give your customers that feeling at every party, every time, with the power of the “Hidden Box.” It’s a simple concept that can pack a serious punch.
As you prepare your displays for your next party, pack a box with some of your favorite Blockbusters, extra pieces in those popular neutral shades of silver, black, and white (a MUST for spring!), and other hidden gems. The Hidden Box doesn’t need to be flashy! Try using one of your Paparazzi boxes that your orders are shipped in. Once you have your display set up, store the box under your table or behind the couch where your customers will not be able to see it.
Here are a couple of ways to use the Hidden Box:
Scenario 1: Wear an accessory that is not currently displayed. As your party guests inevitably ask about the piece you’re wearing, casually respond with, “Oh! I couldn’t fit everything on my display boards. I think I have an extra one in my box. Let me check.” Bring out the Hidden Box and set it on the floor. Curiosity combined with the thrill of finding something that isn’t available to everyone will undoubtedly increase sales.
Scenario 2: Stick to the rule of “One Style, One Color per Hook.” Upholding this Paparazzi veteran’s rule-of-thumb will set up the Hidden Box trick perfectly! As your party guests browse your displays, they will soon begin asking questions like, “Does this necklace come in a different color?” Cue the Hidden Box!
The secret to making the Hidden Box a success lies in how you introduce it to your customers. Keep it simple. Keep it casual. And most importantly – keep it fun!

Synergy is a force that can be used to lift others up and create something better, or it can be used to magnify the negative and create something worse. As you’re working with your team and other Consultants, pay attention to the power that comes from synergy – for better or worse. Here are some different examples of how synergy can manifest within your Paparazzi business:
Remember that like breeds like. Countless studies of human behavior have shown that an individual will become most like the five people they spend the most time with. Who are you surrounded by? Do you associate with problem solvers who look for solutions rather than dwell on what is out of their control? Are you surrounded by people who continue to tell you that your dreams are unachievable, or do you belong to groups where you are encouraged and supported? Take some time and evaluate who you interact with regularly.
Be aware of the social media spiral. Social media is the ultimate double-edged sword. While it can be used to spread news of success and happiness, it can easily prove the fact that misery loves company. When you encounter a negative post in a social media platform, think twice before engaging. Take a moment and ask yourself if you are about to contribute to that negativity, or if you are offering a solution to the problem or a positive outlook. As your team grows, more and more Consultants will look to you as their leader for instruction on how to handle difficult situations. How you handle that responsibility can make or break you.
Build synergy within your parties. A party with synergy between you as the Consultant, the Hostess, and her customers cannot compare to a party held in chaos. Be clear on expectations, keep your Hostess informed and involved in the process, and make sure the party guests have a positive experience. Staying consistent will help you build a sparkling reputation that will inevitably lead to more Hostesses, more customers, and more team members.
If you’re like most American families, when you look at your financial obligations for the month, you’re probably left with a sinking feeling of dread. Stressing about how to pay for groceries, gas, the phone, rent, and more is a common reality for many families, and more often than not, a supplement of as little of $100 in a month could make a huge difference in the struggle to stay afloat.
As a Paparazzi Consultant, you have the unique opportunity to generate as much income as you need, when you need it. Whether your family is looking at some unexpected medical expenses, trying to budget for a vacation, paying for a home or car repair, or looking for a way to begin saving for something special, you have the power to make it happen! To make it even easier, we’ve created a simple formula that allows you to calculate exactly how many parties you’ll need to throw to make your financial goal a reality.
To begin, you’ll need to determine how much Retail Profit you would like to bring home within the month. In this example, we’re going to use a Retail Profit goal of $200. Divide your Retail Profit goal by $2.25, which is your profit from each standard piece of jewelry you sell. This will give you the total number of pieces that you need to sell this month. In our example, this number is 88.89, which means we need to sell 89 pieces to reach our goal of $200 in Retail Profit.
Let’s take it a step further. Take the number of pieces you need to sell this month and divide it by the average number of pieces you sell at each party you throw. This will provide you with the number of parties you need to throw this month to reach your goal. Continuing with our example, let’s say on average we sell 20 pieces per party. We’ll take the 89 pieces we need to sell divided by the 20 pieces we sell per party, which gives us a total of 4.45. Rounded up, we see that we’ll need to throw five parties this month in order to reach our $200 Retail Profit goal. Totally doable!

The power of leading by example is evident more prominently in direct sales than any other business model. From the moment you enroll a new Consultant, you are viewed as a leader to your team. Your team looks to you for insight, business strategy, and support. They will also become copy-cats. Because they view you as a successful Consultant, they will instinctively try to duplicate what you’ve done to build a strong business. This puts you in a very powerful role!
You see, a new Consultant will mimic your behavior. What kind of example are you setting?
Do you want your team to attend company events? Host regular parties? Participate in promotions and contests? Contact their team members regularly? Then you should be prepared to do the same! How can you expect your team members to find urgency in attending events, hosting regular parties, participating in promotions, or reaching out to their team members if you don’t set that example for them?
You have the power to create a team of hardworking, dedicated and engaged Consultants – all by setting a strong example. Whatever you do (or don’t do) within your organization is what you will see your organization do (or not do).
At the 2000 Sydney Games, Eric Moussambani, an athlete from Equatorial Guinea, set a swimming record for his country. The interesting part was that it was the worst time ever recorded in the history of the Olympic Games. In fact, it took him more than twice as long as his fastest competitors to complete the 100 meter freestyle! To many people, it was easy to see that Eric should have quit long before he ever made it to the Olympics based on this drastic comparison. It was obvious that he had no chance of winning a medal. Yet, here was an athlete, who wanted to change his life for the better and wanted to represent his country in one of the biggest events in the world.
When he arrived in Sydney, no one knew his name, but he was in the same Athlete Village as the biggest and best athletes in the world. He was eating, sleeping, and exercising with the best. He knew he probably wouldn’t win, but he also knew he was worthy of the same experience as the rest of the world. He knew that this experience would only make him better, and if he could learn anything from the best, he wanted to be there!
The quickest way to succeed is by learning from people who have had success. This is why many athletes hire coaches who have a record of teaching other successful athletes. The cost, the distance, the time, none of it matters as long as it will help them achieve their goal of being successful.
Many times we avoid success because we are worried about losing, or risking embarrassment.
